ANNE MAYER

Anne Mayer has been writing and publishing her work since she was 17 years old. Entering almost every contest she thought worthwhile, as a college student, she won second place in Mademoiselle's Poetry Competition, honorable mention in Mademoiselle's Guest Editor Competition and second place in Writer's Digest National Article Writing Contest.

After graduating from Ohio University, with a stint at Trinity College, Oxford University, England, she and her lawyer husband, David, loaded up the U-Haul and moved from Cleveland, Ohio, to New York City. Not deterred by the 1977 Blackout, the sub-way strike, garbage strike and John Lennon's death, Anne carved a niche for herself as assistant features editor of Harper's Bazaar and landed her own entertainment column for the magazine, called "Eye-On."

A master in developing good working relationships with editors and publishers, Anne eventually left Harper's Bazaar to freelance for McCall's, Redbook, Ladies' Home Journal, Mademoiselle, Working Mother, Bride's, Seventeen, Parents, Parenting, Child, The New York Times, San Francisco Chronicle, Hemispheres and other publications.

A few years later, Anne, David, and their two young daughters moved to San Rafael, California. They were barely settled in their new home, when a literary agent contacted Anne and asked if she had any book ideas. Two years later, Anne's book, How To Stay Lovers While Raising Your Children, (St. Martin's Press) was published, chosen as a Literary Guild Alternate, reviewed twice in USA Today, and excerpted in Reader's Digest (USA, Great Britain, Canada). Anne appeared on the "Today" show with Katie Couric and numerous television and radio programs throughout the United States and Canada.

Now a resident of Dallas, Anne lets no tumbleweed grow under her feet. She is the creator of "Business Leasing News," voted number one online financial leasing newsletter in the world by Alexa.com, of which David is the publisher. In addition, she is an award-winning screenwriter, and special advisor to the board of the Dallas Screenwriters Association. Passionate about all types of writing, Anne is also co-author of the book, The Bride (Harry Abrams), which celebrates 50 years of weddings and Bride's magazine, and The Insider's Guide To Book Editors And Publishers, (first edition, Prima Publishing & Communications) by Jeff Herman. She also helped broker a book deal for her husband, David, which produced Business Leasing For Dummies, (John Wiley & Sons), and edits proposals, books and screenplays.

Anne loves helping other people succeed with their "book or script dreams." Her motto is: "Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful." – Albert Schweitzer
